PSU 5.6.1 Upgrade causes portal to be unresponsive

Product: PowerShell Universal
Version: 5.6.1

I recently upgraded my PSU DEV instance to 5.6.1 after doing so the admin portal is completely unresponsive. Everything I click results in these errors:

All I did was download and run the installer. No extra steps, so I’m wondering if I missed a step or if there’s just an issue with the build.

I had to completely empty my browser cache.
It seems that some JS code changed but does not get replaced in the browser.

I also had similar issues no errors like this, just gray loading bars on the scripts page, clearing cache fixed it.

One thing that did seem to have broken for me though is vaults.ps1 no matter how much i restarted the service it didnt seem to run/initialize on server start and none of my azure keyvault secrets were loading in (does not exist in vault error on each one).

I had to copy the contents of vaults.ps1 into a separate script and run it and that worked. Weirdly after restarting the server now, it’s fine.

Other than that, no other issues after upgrading so far.

This did work, unfortunately its a bit of a blocker for me rolling this out to PROD. We have quite a few apps that are used by less technical people. I had to refresh everything in chrome to get it working, which mean all Okta apps logged out and caused a few issues.

To me 5.5 was very good, 5.6 did cause several issues.
I am not yet upgrading to 5.6.x on PROD.

You can clear the cache for a specific site only without impacting anything else, not sure about chrome, but in Edge you can do this by clicking on the padlock icon next to the url, going to ‘cookies and site data’, clicking cookies, and then selecting any, and hitting remove. I just did this and it sorted my admin portal.

yeah same. Kinda had a panic haha. Gonna be skipping that one.

clearing the cache did not help for too long.
Now on the admin page, the Home menu items does nothing.
The rest seems to be ok.

I had this issue as well and what fixed it for me was to disable my adblocker.

I did try this and it didnt work for me unfortunately.

Did you check server logs make sure there’s no anything going on system side that might be causing your issues? Also best way i find to confirm its not client side/cache issues is open in a private window.

Not sure if same issue, but I also had UI become unresponsive after upgrading to 5.6, and Adam sent me this and it worked:

“Hi Matthew,

Can you please try pressing Ctrl+F5 in your browser to hard refresh the JavaScript and CSS files? They may be cached.

Thanks,

Adam Driscoll”

Google Chrome Version 139.0.7258.67 (Official Build) (64-bit) fix the issue.

MS Edge Version 138.0.3351.121 (Official build) (64-bit) fix the issue.

I cleared my cache using the F5 + Alt or CTRL.
I am using Version 139.0.7258.67 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Restarted chrome.

Not sure what i can try now. Still have the same issue.

I’m looking into this. A couple of other users report similar problems. It seems like clearing the cache works for some but not all.
